Peanut the Surprise Twilight Dog of Honour
Peanut is a gorgeous young Jack Russell and a bundle of fun. His Dads’ planned their wedding at the stunning Botley Hill Barn in the Surrey Hills and knew they wanted their boy included in some part of their wedding celebrations, but thought Peanut would find the ceremony too exciting with all his favourite people in one place and be too much of a distraction from the wedding vows.
We met up to talk through their ideas and came up with having Peanut as the surprise Pup of Honour at their twilight cocktail hour, where he could be part of the celebrations and greet all their friends and family in a less formal setting.
Botley Hill Barn is a fantastic dog friendly venue where the pups are welcome inside all the barns, which meant no matter what the weather, Peanut would be able to join in the celebrations and mingle with guests inside the barns and out on the patio.
It was an August wedding and we all had concerns about it being too hot for Peanut during the day and so a 7pm arrival for cocktail hour was arranged.
Before the wedding day I went over and took Peanut for a walk, to get to know him a little better and so that I wasn’t a stranger on his Dads’ wedding day. He is a confident boy and we had no trouble in making friends.
Peanut’s day was kept as normal as possible, he was at home with family members in the morning having his regular breakfast and walks whilst they got ready for the wedding day ahead.
I went over in the afternoon giving Peanut a walk in his familiar surroundings, dinner at his usual time and a relaxing hour at home. It was then time to get him dressed in his new harness and silk bow tie to match the bridesmaids and we headed up to the Barn for his surprise entrance.
Peanut arrival was perfectly timed with the start of cocktail hour, he was a little star and loved every minute of mingling with the guests, having treats and stealing all the attention.
The photographer captured some wonderful photos of Peanut and his newly married Dads’ and their guests before we headed home leaving everyone to enjoy the evening party.
Once back settled Peanut in with some water and treats, by this time it was around 9pm and he crashed out from all the excitement. One of the groom’s Mum’s was staying with Peanut overnight and he only had an hour or so on his own before he would have someone staying with him. I left him snoozing on the sofa, content and happy.
Congratulations Richard, Lewis & Peanut!
