Willow & Biscuit the perfect duo
Nick and I had the pleasure of accompanying Willow and Biscuit to their Mum & Dad’s wedding at South Lodge Hotel in February. Willow is a beautiful young chocolate labrador and her brother Biscuit is a working cocker spaniel.
Both dogs love the outdoors and at the meet and greet it was clear that whatever the weather these two would need a good walk in the grounds of the hotel before and after the ceremony and photographs.
It was important to D&B that Willow and Biscuit were front and centre at the wedding ceremony and that they would be included in the photographs with friends and family.
We collected Willow and Biscuit from home, using their travel crates in the boot of our car so that they had a familiar ride to South Lodge, about a 30-minute drive from home. On arrival we met the hotel staff and let them know that Willow and Biscuit had arrived, before taking them for a sniffy walk in the grounds. It was a damp February day, the grassy areas were wet and muddy, so out came the towels and wet wipes to clean and dry them off before they made their entrance for the Wedding Ceremony.
I noticed as soon as we arrived that one of the guests was wearing a new pair of white satin shoes and Dawn the bride was wearing the most beautiful lace wedding dress. Our task was to make sure that Willow (a renowned jumper) and Biscuit (a lap hugger) were included in the ceremony but kept with paws on the floor and away from the satin shoes and the bride’s lace dress.
The ceremony was entertaining with Willow and Biscuit barking approval at the end of the vows, to everyone’s amusement and the photographs on the patio went without incident.
It was time for a longer walk in the grounds whilst D&B and their guests enjoyed their wedding breakfast. South Lodge is one of the rare hotels where dogs are allowed in all areas and they have dog friendly rooms for overnight stays.
We had arranged to care for Willow and Biscuit throughout the day until the wedding breakfast and speeches were over. Once they had their longer walk in the grounds we settled in the bar area and they had a chilled couple of hours before we handed them back to D&B for their overnight stay.
We headed home happy, with a boot full of damp towels but knowing we had managed to fulfil D&B’s wishes to share their wedding day with their beloved dogs.
Congratulations Dawn, Brian, Willow & Biscuit!
